VISION: To Strengthen, Heal and Empower DeKalb families by linking impacted families with public, private, inter-faith & academic organizations offering resources, guidance and support to prevent family violence by facilitating healthier relationships, empowered families and engaged, inspired youth.
MISSION: To create opportunities for stemming the rising tide of DeKalb County families who are being devastated by the socio-economic impact of family violence and its correlated social issues. Take Time to GIVE A CARE Foundation is being established in memory of my daughter, Anika Vai. We will continue to present DV awareness and prevention community forums, in memory of Nikki , as one of too many DV victims who suffered unnecessarily and died too soon.
We present community engagement events & roundtable conversations on topics geared to “bring light” to the devastating links between these social crises: (1) toxic parenting (2) unhealthy relationships (3) generational legacy of child abuse & neglect (4) domestic/family violence (5) poverty & homelessness (5) under-employment (6) PTSD, bi-polar, unresolved grief and related anxiety disorders (7) neglected health & wellness (8) inadequate OHI/Emotional Support special needs educational systems. We advocate to diminish the impact of these “social ills” ; these are the issues which plagued my daughter’s life and placed significant emotional/financial/physical/social limitations on her potential.
Our community forums engage attendees & participating organizations to SHARE concerns, expertise and experiences, LEARN how the domino effect of family violence and specific social issues devastate our community, PARTICIPATE in brainstorming and think-tank sessions; NETWORK with DeKalb County advocacy community and government agency experts; then, TAKE IT BACK to their communities.
