A coffee cupping is where we use all kinds of sciency words and make loud slurping noises to get some cold, hard taste data on all of our coffees. We use cuppings to find the perfect roast level for our new offerings, to get the ingredients just right on some secret new coffee blend, and now and then just to make sure everything is tasting like it should. A good cupping involves all kinds of strange made-up words to describe coffee flavors and tons of strange facial expressions as coffee is evaluated on the tongue. We do all this in order to bring you, our dear customers, the best we can possibly offer.
Basically, it's kinda like a wine tasting. But for coffee.
So anyway, we want to start inviting you to this madness. On April 19, 2012, we will be holding our first ever cupping, open to the community! Except we need to keep it kinda small so it doesn't get too crowded, so we're limiting this to 10 people. But there will be more, probably about once a month! So if you miss this one, stay tuned.
If you are able to snag a ticket, our chief roaster, Woody DeCasere, who we dearly love and cherish, will lead you through the Wonderful World of Coffee Cupping. We'll provide you with all the fancy equipment you need (bascially just a special kind of spoon), so all you really need to bring is yourself and your unending appreciation for coffee.
