Join us for Community Cinema's October film The Graduates / Los Graduados!

This two-part, bilingual documentary explores pressing issues in education today through the eyes of six Latino and Latina adolescents from across the United States, offering first-hand perspectives on the barriers they have to overcome in order to make their dreams come true. This Saturday, October 12 at 11am we'll watch part two of the documentary, which focuses on Latinas . Watch the film trailer and learn more here.

After the screening we'll talk with several Latina members of Latinos of Tomorrow, a youth development program of the Greater Kansas City Hispanic Collaborative; Immigration Professionals attorney Jessica Piedra, who works on a variety of issues relating to immigration, including advocating for undocumented youth across the state of Missouri; and University of Kansas professor and author of "The Latina Advantage: Gender, Race, and Political Success" Christina Bejarano.

Community Cinema is a free monthly screening series presents fascinating documentaries from the Emmy-Award winning PBS series Independent Lens followed by lively discussions that connect films to local organizations and resources. Films are shown from September to June every second Saturday of the month at 11am.
