About the Workshop

The purpose of this seminar is to improve understanding of insurance—what it does and how to works. The seminar outlines: (1) the main reasons why businesses purchase insurance.
(2) Coverage types and limits.
(3) Certificates of Insurance.
(4) Contractual Obligations.

About the Speakers

Angela Depies began her insurance career as a commercial insurance underwriter for a global insurer. While there, Angela underwrote both guaranteed cost and loss‐sensitive programs. Angela joined Tave Risk Management in January 2009. During her time at Tave, Angela worked closely with various complex organizations, including the
University of Chicago Insurance Programs as a client executive.

About the Series

The Community Business Workshop Series is a joint collaboration of Chicago Innovation Exchange, the Office of Business Diversity, the IJ Clinic on Entrepreneurship, the South East Chicago Commission, the Office of Civic Engagmenet, and Facilities Services. The goal of the series is to provide South Side businesses and entrepreneurs with substantive and actionable programming to grow and sustain their businesses.
