Community Arts Tuesdays is a networking opportunity to gather with our Westchester Square neighbors and friends, introduce the BCA staff and rub elbows with members of the newly formed Westchester Square BID.

Join us for an evening of music, refreshments, and an opportunity to get your complimentary copy of Ray Bradbury’s internationally acclaimed novel Fahrenheit 451 as part of the Bronx Council on the Arts’ The Big Read in the Bronx 2013. The Big Read is BCA’s borough-wide reading initiative, presented in conjunction with BCA's 50th Anniversary celebration year which runs through December 2013. The celebration will include a series of programming, events and community presence.

Fahrenheit 451 is a master work of twentieth-century literature set in a bleak, dystopian future. Fireman Guy Montag lives in a world where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction — a world where firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden.

Follow BCA’s Bronx Writers Center as we launch a series of The Big Read in the Bronx events and programs from now through mid-May by visiting www.bronxarts.org.

The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest. For more information, visit www.neabigread.org. Additional support is provided by the Robert Bowne Foundation and the New Yankee Stadium Community Benefits Fund INC., and the Westchester Square Branch of the New York Public Library.
