Living a happy life is inextricably tied to our relationships. Effective and heart based communication is essential for health and fulfilling relationships at home, work, and in our communities. Unfortunately, in our culture, we are often not taught even the basic skills we need to cultivate understanding and enable effective communication. The ramifications of this are seen with discord in the home, unhappy work situations, and on a macro-level with governments shut down by the inability to work together.
In this 3-week course, we will develop a greater understanding of basic skills for effective and heartfelt communication. The class draws largely upon the work of Marshall Rosenberg and Nonviolent Communication principles. We will also integrate the use of relaxation and mindfulness to empower ourselves to make different choices under stressful situations to use heartfelt skills and get ourselves out of our reactivity. Through group discussion, reading, and practice time, we will further empower ourselves to interact in ways that serve us every day.
The course will provide skills to:
*Communicate clearly and effectively
*Build stronger relationships
*Ability to assert needs in various situations
