Common Core Math: Integrating iPads and Interactive Whiteboards into the Elementary and Middle School Curriculum

Tired of hearing “Why do I have to learn Math, it is sooooo boring”. In this workshop, participants will experience how iPad apps and Interactive Whiteboards can make Math come alive. They will explore various free and paid Math apps and free interactive Whiteboard lessons that only need to be tweaked for the elementary classroom. The session also offers opportunities for sharing ideas for incorporating these apps for activities and projects to support the Common Core State Standards in the math curriculum.

Elyse Pernick is an enthusiastic and experienced K-12 math educator.  She received her B.A. from Hofstra University in mathematics and education and her M.A. + 15 from SUNY Stony Brook in mathematics and computer science education. She holds K-12 Certification in mathematics in NJ and NY and currently serves as a professional development consultant for various education institutions in NJ.

Elyse’s workshops will be held from 8:00-2:00 in Hutchinson Hall Room 306 at the Kean University, Union Campus. A continental breakfast will be served and participants may bring a brown bag lunch.

We strongly encourage registrants to “bring your own device” (BYOD), but some iPads are available, if needed.
