As part of a one-year pilot program to address high classroom temperatures, Poudre School District will for the first time release students in grades K-8 two hours early the first two weeks of school, Aug. 19-29.
This will be a challenge for many working parents. That’s where the Coloradoan’s Heat Days Fair comes in.
At the event, it’s our hope that parents and guardians will meet others facing a similar plight and pair up to share child care responsibilities during the early release weeks. Attendees will be able to participate in free background checks, as well as get advice from Larimer County experts on providing the best care.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to talk with child care providers in the community who are offering services during the early release weeks and beyond. Poudre School District will also have representatives available to talk about early release days, one piece of PSD’s pilot program.
B.A.S.E. Camp employees will be on site to watch children so parents can commit their full attention to the event. Water and snacks will be provided.
