The 2013 Colorado Gingerbread House Competition
Saturday and Sunday, December 7 & 8, 2013 from 11:00am – 5:00pm
Inside the McNichols Building inside Civic Center Park - 144 West Colfax Ave – Colfax & Bannock
In conjunction with the Denver Holly Days leading up to the 9News Parade of Lights.
Come have fun, express your creativity and compete in The Colorado Gingerbread House Competition. In order to participate in the competition you will need to register in advance and bring your completed house to the Denver Holly Days on the morning of Saturday, December 7th
The Gingerbread Houses will be on display all day on December 7th and 8th , throughout the Denver Holly Days. The attending public will vote on the best houses.
The peoples choice winner in each category will be awarded a cash prize of $50 and also earn a year’s worth of bragging rights.
Participants are invited to compete in one of three categories:
- Children: entries made by children 13 years old and younger without the assistance of adults.
- Families, Groups, or Adults: a single entry for single adults or groups of two or more individuals. (such as: a gingerbread house made by children with adult supervision, or a gingerbread house constructed by an organization, club, or groups of adults)
- Professionals: an entry produced by a baker, designer, architect, chef, restaruant, corportate sumbission, or any individual or group with professional baking experience.
There is no cost for the children’s category, however there will be a $5 registration fee for familes, groups, individual adults and professionals.
Your gingerbread house should be viewed by thousands of people. The public will be able to vote for free.
The Colorado Gingerbread House Competition is happening during the Denver Holly Days. The Denver Holly Days is an exciting new holiday craft fair that features an awesome selection of exhibitors with one of-a-kind seasonal items and handcrafted goods and gifts. The event will be the perfect prelude to the 9News Parade of Lights on Saturday. The Parade that attracts over 150,000 spectators a day starts in Civic Center Park. The newly remodeled, historic McNichols Building is right next to the Parade’s main Grandstand seating in front of the spectacularly lit up City & County Building. Additionally there will be a live concert on Saturday by the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus and Free Hot Chocolate for the attending public. This family fun event has Free Admission.
