College of Lake County MLK Collegiate Challenge 2013
Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 7:45 AM to 12:30 PM (PST)
“Let us rise up (today) with a greater readiness. Let us stand with greater determination. Let us Move on in these powerful days, these days of Challenge, to make America what it ought to be.” Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man that inspired us to serve our communities even when times seemed hard to do such things. His vision of service and volunteering are critical in times of hardship to sustain and grow our communities. Dr King often emphasized how every person was linked to each other. “In a real sense, all life is interrelated. The agony of the poor impoverishes the rich; the betterment of the poor enriches the rich…Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.”- Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
To honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s passion for community service the College of Lake County invites you to participate in the MLK Collegiate Challenge.
- The challenge will be held in secret until the reveal on the day of the event.
- Volunteers will be randomly assigned to a challenge upon arrival.
- The day will start with breakfast and a presentation before volunteers are assigned to a service project.
- After your projects we will return to the college for reflection on the service and a delicious lunch.
This event will start in the lower section of the C-building. The entrance to the C-building can be found on the campus map: www.clcillinois.edu/maps/graycamp.asp . By clicking on the icons, this map will also show the room layout of building. Please return to our event often as this page will be updated the closer we are to the event.
