College Access & Financial Aid Awareness Roundtable
Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (EDT)
Join the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and the office of Federal Student Aid of the U. S. Department of Education for a roundtable on increasing access to college and financial aid awareness for all Virginians. This free roundtable is directed to grassroots, faith-based and community-based non-profit organizations supporting the development of youth and/or adults in the greater southwest Virginia region. We hope to partner with organizations, such as yours, in an effort to identify resources and pathways to increase postsecondary enrollment and FAFSA completion in the Commonwealth.
In the morning, learn about federal and state resources and participate in a facilitated discussion to generate suggestions and ideas for increasing Virginia's FAFSA completion and college access opportunities. Following lunch, training will be available on the FAFSA and Virginia Wizard. These are two key tools available for assisting students in pursuing higher education. Learn about changes and new functions.
Registration is limited to no more than two individuals per organization. Lunch is provided. Please contact Shannon Girouard at firstname.lastname@example.org for information on lodging for attendees traveling in excess of 100 miles. This event is funded by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia's College Access Challenge Grant Program (CACGP), a federal grant from the U. S. Department of Education.
