Wine Director Kirk Peterson hosts a night of rare wines and fabulous food, as he reaches deep into the B&B cellar to open a few rare bottles for tasting, including Castello dei Rampolla Sammarco 1986. In addition to Peterson's selections, guests are invited to bring wine from their own collections to enjoy (or share) with no corkage fee.* Of course, the wine won't be the only thing flowing; the B&B kitchen will produce a summer-themed menu fit to enhance the wines of the night.
Castello dei Rampolla Sammarco 1986: Born from a collaboration between estate founder Alceo di Napoli and Sassicaia’s consulting enologist, Giacomo Tachis, Sammarco could hardly be anything but tremendous. Powerful, velvety and full-bodied, Sammarco’s blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon touched with a bit of Sangiovese and Merlot embodies this estate’s Panzano terrior. Full of brambly fruits, yet restrained and elegant, the 1986 vintage offers a particularly layered, complex, sinuous evocation.
