Fuselage has been partnering with churches, schools, and organizations, reaching students all over the country for close to twenty years. We have desired to provide an opportunity for youth pastors to come together and learn from each other. Today, we are excited to announce a dream of ours that has been in the making for a few years. We present CoLab...a different kind of conference for student pastors coming to Crosspointe Church in Atlanta, GA, September 30-October 1, 2013.
CoLab is a place for student pastors to come together, share ideas, and challenge each other to take Student Ministry to the next level. On September 30- October 1, we will spend a couple days conversing over subjects like leadership, evangelism, discipleship, brainstorming, and teamwork. You will not only hear from some amazing main stage speakers, but will also have the opportunity to go deeper with a small group of guys and girls that are in the trenches of student ministry with you.
Many times, you attend conferences and hear from the same speakers who spoke at the last conference you went to. Many of them have not had anything to do with Student Ministry in years, if not ever. CoLab is putting people on stage that all are deeply involved with students and deeply passionate about student ministry, and leadership.
We will be doing some unique things at CoLab. There are no breakout sessions or separate tracks. You wont have to choose between different topics or have to feel torn because there are multiple sessions happening at once. Each participant will be hearing from the same main speakers and talking over the same subjects. Also, there will be no huge exhibit hall of vendors vying for your attention. Our sponsors consist of a small, select number of student ministry resources that we believe in.
CoLab is going to be kicked off by McNair Wilson - former Disney Imagineer, and a Theme Park concept designer. He was the Lead Imagineer for Disney's Tower of Terror ride. McNair worked for years with Youth For Christ and was a part of the early years of Youth Specialties. McNair has spoken at the infamous TED conference, conferences and events in 49 states and in 38 countries. He has helped organizations like NASA, Apple, Atlanta’s Olympic Games, Chick-fil-a, and Universal Studios learn how to think creatively and brainstorm together.
McNair is going to start CoLab off with a session on “Creativity” followed up by a session on “Brainstorming like Disney Does.” This will lay the foundation that our event is not just another gathering, but one where we collaborate and discover new ideas together; then take them back to our communities and spread them. Everyone that registers will get McNair’s newest book, “Hatch! Brainstorming Secrets of a Theme Park Designer.”
Our desire is that CoLab participants will take the ideas presented during these two days and spread them throughout their communities when they return home. We want to have this time to invest in Student Pastors so they can effectively pour into their students.
Some goals for our time together:
Our speakers are going to introduce ideas that ask as many questions as they give answers. We firmly believe that we are smarter together Not only will you wrestle through these questions within your small group, but will be able to share together within the large group as well.
Everyone is going to bring at least one idea to CoLab. Whether it's a sermon you've done, video, game, teaching series, or something else that does not fit any category and share these with all the participants. We going to assemble all those ideas, files, PDFs, etc on a USB drive so that everyone leaves with those ideas to use them in their ministries. There is sure to be tons of content that you can use in the days, week, and months ahead in your student ministry.
We believe that the people in the room matter. CoLab is reserving this event only for people serving in student ministry as a paid position. We have also purposefully planned CoLab to happen before Atlanta Catalyst, which draws 13,000 ministry leaders. This will allow CoLab participants to also stick around for a few extra days to experience Catalyst. CoLab is based on community and collaboration. Because of this, we will "sell-out" at just 250 participants.
Your CoLab registration includes: Exlusive acess to Idea Exchange online, Hatch by McNair Wilson, Dinner Monday night and lunch on Tuesday. If you have additional questions about CoLab or for sponsorship opportunities, contact us HERE.
