CNC Art to Part: DECEMBER
Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM (EST)
Somerville, United States
Interested in learning how to turn a 3D computer model into a physical object? In this three hour course you will learn how to do just that using free software that's easy to learn. First, we'll take a 3D form and turn it into interlocking flat shapes using 123D Make. After using Inkscape and Draftsight to convert the files, we'll then take those shapes into CamBam and create tool paths for a CNC router.
This class will familiarize students with the basics of 123D Make and CamBam free software.
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows.
Computers will be provided, though students can bring their own.
Judah Sher has a BS in industrial design, and has been building and using CNC routers for two years. He has recently started Sindrian Arts, a business devoted to selling CNC machine kits and CNC-made products.
