“Steps 4 Student Success” Presented by:
The CLBC Scholarship Ministry
Saturday November 2, 2013 10:00am – 1:00pm
Nomahegan Park, 1033 Springfield Avenue, Cranford, NJ
The CLBC Scholarship Ministry would like to invite you to our 1st 5K Run/Walk. It is our goal to assist and support students (members and non-members of the congregation) so they may pursue their education & career goals. In an effort to assist our youth in becoming positive contributors to the community, 100 % of the proceeds will be donated for Scholarships, Stipends, Parochial/Charter School Tuition Assistance, SAT/GED Preparation and other educational fees.
According to www.whitehouse.gov: In higher education, the U.S., has been outpaced internationally. While the United States ranks ninth in the world in the proportion of young adults enrolled in college, we’ve fallen to 16th in the world in our share of certificates and degrees awarded to adults ages 25-34 – lagging behind Korea, Canada, Japan and other nations. We also suffer from a college attainment gap, as high school graduates from the wealthiest families in our nation are almost certain to continue on to higher education, while just over half of our high school graduates in the poorest quarter of families attend college. And while more than half of college students graduate within six years, the completion rate for low-income students is around 25 percent.
These statistics are staggering. And as our economy continues to shift, we need to ensure that we’re producing young adults capable of taking on the demands of, and succeeding in, a 21st century workplace. Regardless of your political beliefs, Education would have the same value under any Administration and we all have a responsibility to support our youth and make sure they are taking the right “Steps 4 Student Success”.
If you have a student that is entering college or currently in college, don’t miss this opportunity to find out how he/she can benefit through event participation. Contact us directly for additional information at CLBCScholarshipMinistry@yahoo.com.
