The course objectives will be:
- Understand how the ER type buoyant flow control device operates
- Understand how the ER type BFD can be used to minimize detention volume
- Understanding the device variations and identification of situations suited for each variation
- Learn to compute the stage vs. discharge relationship (rating curve) for each device type variation in free discharge and tailwater conditions
- Learn to insert rating curves into popular modeling software such as ICPR, Ponds, HydroCad
- Learn to model the ER type BFD for single and multiple storm events.
- Identify design conditions and other factors which affect efficiency and potential system savings
- Learn to calculate required buoyancy
- Understand and identify construction design details required for proper operation and maintenance.
