Event Details

The Grove Plaza: September 5, 2009: The City Harvest Celebration is presented by the Treasure Valley Food Coalition, a program of Sustainable Community Connections of Idaho, and the City of Boise Arts and History Department, and made possible through generous sponsorship from Capital City Development Corporation.

City Harvest kicks off Fall for Boise: A month-long celebration of the bounty of Idaho.

In this spirit, locally grown food will be served potluck-style by Think Boise First restaurants.  In addition to the dinner (available to ticket-holders only) the general public is also invited to take in the scene by enjoying a glass of Idaho beer or wine, listening to a free concert and bidding in a silent art auction.  The event seeks to connect the community with local food, food-producers and artists to recognize the importance of our rich agricultural heritage.

Kevin Kirk & Onomatopoiea~ with special guest appearance by Sally Tibbs

Boise Rock School, Opera Idaho, Giant Leprechauns

Bitter Creek Red Feather, Brick Oven Bistro, Burger Time, Cafe De Paris, Dawson Taylor, Dream Chocolate, Jenny's Lunch Line, Life's Kitchen, Modern Bar, Pair, Shangri La Tea and Superb Sushi.

All proceeds will be used for a local food assessment to be performed by the Treasure Valley Food Coalition (TVFC).  The assessment is essential to inform the development of a sustainable local food system through the evaluation of factors limiting the production and distribution of local food.  By gathering and analyzing data, TVFC will be able to answer important questions about Idaho’s food economy including how much food is produced in the region and how much of it is imported and exported as well as identifying the gaps in our current food system.
