Friday, October 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM - Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM (CDT)
The Philanthropic Renaissance: Illuminating Creative Expressions of Giving is the Community Investment Network's annual conference, co-hosted by the Birmingham Change Fund. The conference is for people who give their time, talent and treasure to a growing national movement of community philanthropy. Join us this fall in the Magic City as we celebrate the inspiring changes made in communities big and small across the country, and showcase the long history of civil rights, social justice and Blacks giving back in Alabama. Plenary speakers details TBA.
CIN is a network of people who are passionate about giving back. Many people express a desire to be a part of something greater than themselves, yet are not sure of how to do so. This conference is a way for people to learn from each other, community to community, about the incredible power and simplicity of giving circles as vehicle for people to get together and give back.
Conference attendees consist of professionals working in government, nonprofits and the private sector as well as students, retirees, veterans and immigrants. This is an annual gathering of everyday philanthropists who come together to share stories, exchange ideas and learn strategies to create and affect change in local communities by giving back.
In addition to plenaries and workshops, the Philanthropic Renaissance will offer local tours of Birmingham, free yoga practice on-site, and evening festivities. Come to eat, drink and be merry. And don't forget, be ready for spades, bid whist, dominos and cold chilling. Visit the conference website where the full program will be posted this summer.
