Welcome to Cinema Falls at the Icon Lounge.
Sunday Nights Just Got So Much Better.
THE INVISIBLE WAR is a groundbreaking investigation into the epidemic of rape in the US Military. This film won the Documentary Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival, rates a consistent 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and has been praised by critics from every major media outlet. There will be a Q&A following the film with special guests Major General (Retired) Robert Bray, and a member of the SD SARC team.
Today, a female soldier in Iraq and Afghanistan is more likely to be raped than killed or injured by enemy fire.
Every day American service women and men, who have pledged their lives to protect our country, are being raped and sexually assaulted. Not by the enemy, but by their fellow soldiers, commanders, and officers – by the people whose job it is to protect them.
THE INVISIBLE WAR centers around the stories and experiences of Military Sexual Trauma survivors with the courage to come forward, tell their stories, and let us into their lives. The filmmakers strongly believe that The Invisible War will shed light on these egregious acts and the larger systemic issue. The intent of the film is not only to bring much needed attention to the experiences of these brave service members, but also to ignite public demand for legislation to protect the next generation from rape and sexual assault and the life long devastation that follows.
