It all started with a waffle . . . Proprietor Jean-Francois Flechet, a Belgium native, began selling authentic Belgian waffles at Findlay Market a few years ago. From there he expanded his offerings and began selling his products in other regional markets. He has now opened Taste of Belgium – Belgian Bistro as a new addition to the Over-The-Rhine restaurant scene. The Bistro is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch (Best of Metromix 2012). The Bistro offers a mix of traditional Belgian food (Boulets Liégeois, Carbonnades, Waterzooi, Moules-Frites) and some twists on local favorites: you won’t find a goetta crêpe in Belgium and waffles have most likely never seen a piece of chicken over there. The Bistro has six Belgian beers on draft and around 30 more in bottle. They feature a geeky and eclectic European wine list. You will not find Bud Light and White Zin on the menu but The Bistro’s servers and bartenders can find Belgian beers and European wine to please any palate. For more information, see http://authenticwaffle.com/
PLEASE NOTE: The evening will benefit the Freestore Foodbank in the form of a canned food drive. Please bring several canned goods with you to donate on the night of the event.
