Come meet the winners and be inspired on the evening of September 13th, as the Churchill Club presents The Churchills an annual event acknowledging companies and individuals for extraordinary achievements in the areas of innovation, social benefit, collaboration, and leadership. By highlighting excellence, the goal of the Churchill Awards is to inspire others to pursue innovation that can result in economic and globally beneficial growth.
Legendary Silicon Valley author, speaker and advisor Geoffrey Moore will act as master of ceremonies. Honorees will accept the awards and will be interviewed by a very special guest.
The awards and winners are:
GAME CHANGER—For indispensable technology and business innovation
Spirit of the Award: “You changed how things are done or viewed and there’s no going back”
The 2012 Game Changer Award is presented to: SPACEX
Accepting on behalf of SpaceX: Steve Jurvetson, Managing Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
Mr. Jurvetson will participate in a live interview with Esther Dyson.
LEGENDARY LEADER—For inspirational leadership and contributions to others’ innovation and success.
Spirit of the Award: “Couldn’t have done it without you”
The 2012 Legendary Leader Award is presented to VINOD KHOSLA, Founder, Khosla Ventures
Mr. Khosla will participate in a live interview with Geoffrey Moore.
MAGICAL TEAM—For collaborative breakthroughs that resulted in an irresistible product or service
Spirit of the Award: “You guys nailed it”
The 2012 Magical Team Award is presented to BOX
Accepting on behalf of Box: Aaron Levie, Co-founder & CEO, and Dylan Smith, Co-founder & CFO. Mr. Levie and Mr. Smith will participate in a live interview with Geoffrey Moore.
SERIAL DISRUPTOR—For solving multiple problems in myriad ways on a global scale
Spirit of the Award: “You've made transformation the standard, not the exception”
The 2012 Serial Disruptor Award is presented to: GOOGLE
Accepting on behalf of Google: Amit Singhal, Senior Vice President and Google Fellow, Google.
Mr. Singhal will participate in a live interview with Geoffrey Moore.
GLOBAL BENEFACTOR—For irrepressible vision and positive impact on society
Spirit of the Award: “Thanks for thinking big”
The 2012 Global Benefactor Award is presented to: HASSO PLATTNER, Co-founder & Chairman, SAP AG
Dr. Plattner will participate in a live interview with Scott McNealy, former CEO of Sun Microsystems.
Selection Process for the Churchills
Nominations were submitted by the Churchill Club Academy, a group of 500 distinguished business and technology executives and professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, academics, and members of the press. The Academy voted on the entire list of nominations submitted and an internal selection committee reviewed the votes and finalized the top nominees.
