ChumpCar World Series
The ChumpCar World Series is an automobile racing series for production sports cars, touring and sedan vehicles – both foreign and domestic. Race events engage a variety of endurance racing formats, ranging from a single-day, 7-hour endurance race, to the longest-closed course endurance race in the world… the Longer Longest Day – a grueling 25 hour, 25 minute and 25 second competition held at the Nelson Ledges Road Course. The series’ difference, however, is that in ChumpCar, each car entered in the race must be valued at less than $500. While another $1,500 of safety equipment must be installed in the cars before they can compete in any ChumpCar race, the result is an extremely low-cost race car that doesn’t have any real advantage over any other car in the field. The series stresses a casual, fun-filled weekend of close, action-packed racing, bringing back the spirit of the 1950s and 1960s, when racers focused on camaraderie, sportsmanship and racing for pure enjoyment. Even so, ChumpCar events are held at the most prestigious motorsports facilities in North America, including Daytona International Speedway, Sebring International Raceway, Texas World Speedway, Virginia International Raceway, Auto Club Speedway, Portland International Raceway, Road America and Charlotte Motor Speedway. The series also holds five (5) events in Canada and two (2) races in Mexico.
