Chinatown meets Queen Street West Tasting
Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Join us on Sept 12th for Queen West meets Chinatown. This month, Executive Chef Michael G. Smith looks to Chinatown for culinary inspiration. Taste the spirt of Chinese flavours with mango poached scallop salad, smoked pork and corn soup, jasmine scented duck fried rice and a banana cake with red bean and sesame. All four amazing courses will be paired by our sommelier with four complimenting wines.
During the Culinary Tasting, Gladstone Executive Chef Michael G. Smith has created menus inspired by different neighbourhoods in the city including: Little India, Little Italy, Koreatown and Chinatown. Smith brings his experience from the ROM’s award-winning C5, Rain and Luce.
“I enjoy creating mash-ups of unlikely flavours and textures. It’s fun to surprise people by presenting them with a twist on traditional favourites,” explained Smith.
“Food should tell a story,” said Smith. “Mine comes from the places I’ve been and the people I’ve met. It comes across when you eat what I prepare. It’s the food that I love and believe in.”
