Child Development 101
Explorations of Development

Child Development 101 is a full day training that actively explores typical developmental milestones with an emphasis on the role of linking child development theory to practice.

The morning session of the training focuses on typical growth and development. Highlights of key developmental tasks for children age birth to 5 years old will be explored. Children’s stories will be an important part of this process allowing participants to “see” general developmental milestones in action and how development unfolds through the use of vignettes, video observations, and by reflecting on their own life experiences as service providers. Participants will engage in thought provoking dialogues to connect this course content to the work they do with children and families.

Participants will:

1) Define “typical” child development,

2) Outline the stages of “typical” child development, and

3) Develop an understanding of how this course content connects to the work they do with children and families.

Audience: Early Care and Education Community in San Francisco.

Lunch and light morning refreshments will be provided.

Spanish and Cantonese language interpretation services can be provided upon request at least two weeks prior to the training. Please indicate translation request when registering.
