Chat with old friends and meet new ones at the Chico Vive reception, 4-5:30 pm, March 6, 2014, at the National Wildlife Federation, 901 E Street NW in downtown Washington. Scott Wallace, prizewinning author of The Unconquered, will make a multimedia presentation.
The reception's purpose is to promote and gain support for the Chico Vive conference, scheduled for April 4-6 at American University's School of International Service. Admission to the reception is free, and refreshments will be provided. Donations are welcome and will go to the Chico Vive conference.
The Chico Vive conference will bring together grassroots activists, NGOs, students, engaged scholars, applied scientists, policymakers, journalists and others to discuss the development of the global grassroots environmental movement in the 25 years since environmental martyr Chico Mendes' death. Participants will plan strategies for coordinated international actions, networks, coalitions and initiatives to advance sustainability, defend the environment from depredation and climate change, and protect the rights of its traditional inhabitants.
