Chicago Green Building Hack-a-thon
Friday, June 7, 2013 from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM (CDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The Chicago Green Building Hack-a-thon will be hosted on Friday June 7th, 2013 from 8am - 5:30pm. This one day event is designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical sustainability professionals.
All Green Building Hack-a-thon events follow the same basic model and is tailored specifically for
- Developing professionals seeking to qualify for LEED Accreditation, and
- Experienced LEED professionals seeking Continuing Education.
We build Teams around the 5-10 participating community projects (e.g. a Habitat for Humanity home) and then it’s a an all day frenzy of “hacking” these local community design projects, methodically evaluating every LEED credit and green building strategy – and assisting that community building organization in the design and green consulting of a real-world LEED project.
Upon completion of the 'Hack", participants will leave with
- LEED Project Experience necessary to qualify for ANY LEED AP exam
- 8 hours of LEED Continuing Education, classified as "Project Participation"
- Real world experience on a LEED Platinum project
- One year membership to your local USGBC Chapters (new members only)
- assistance towards the LEED design and construction of buildings and homes that will support underserved families in their local communities.

Why do I pay?
The majority of your ticket price goes towards paying for the green building and educational programming of the event. There are also costs associated with meals, snacks, and drinks for the day. Additionally, the host space, overall logistics, recruiting local organizers to host, and assisting the Building Partners in the cost of doing LEED is built into the "hack" costs. We rely on local sponsorships to help keep ticket prices low while keeping the value of the event high. Make your education investment -- an investment in transforming your community!
Are there any discounts?
