San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Saturday, Jul 13th 6pm, gates open at 5pm and tailgating starts at 4pm.
The Atlanta Phoenix prevailed in a battle with the Miami Fury (28-24) to advance to round 3 of the playoffs and travel to the home team Chicago Force. The Force contest vs the Cleveland Fury was more imbalanced with the Force taking the 65-7 win.
This game will be a special event as the WFA playoffs have been paused while Team USA travels to Finland to compete in the Women's World Championship of American Football (www.wwc2013.com.) Team USA is defending the gold medal won in 2010 and is comprised of a strong Chicago Force contingent - 9 athletes and 3 coaches including our head coach, John Konecki. We'll be welcoming back those members from Team USA as we resume our "Rally for the Ring" - our quest for the WFA National Championship title.
The post game party will be at Buffalo Wild Wings, 1741 Maple Ave Evanston.
In 2012 Chicago went all the way to the National Championship but lost a heartbreaker in the last 3 minutes of the game. However, it was historic being the first women's national championship game ever played in an NFL stadium, Heinz Field - home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The game was also broadcast on ESPN3.
The Chicago Force, in its 11th season is one of 50 teams nationally in the Women's Football Alliance (WFA) and has only missed the playoffs in one season of its history. Learn more at www.ChicagoForceFootball.com and www.facebook.com/ChicagoForce
