The Cleveland Fusion prevailed in round 1 of the playoffs vs the W Michigan Mayhem 35-6 and will travel to Chicago to take on the Force. The two teams met once in the regular season last year with the Force winning 48-0. However, Cleveland is a much improved team going undefeated in the regular season. The Force also went undefeated for the 3rd consecutive regular season.
This game will be a special event for two reasons - we'll be recognizing our Chicago Force alumni and this will be the last game before the Women's Football Alliance (WFA) suspend the playoffs for the departure of Team USA which will travel to Helsinski, Finland to defend the gold medal won in the inaugural Women's World Championship held in 2010. Team USA's head coach, defensive coordinator and 9 athletes are members of the Chicago Force. Join us as we celebrate women's tackle football past and present!
The post game party will be at Buffalo Wild Wings, 1741 Maple Ave Evanston.
In 2012 Chicago went all the way to the National Championship but lost a heartbreaker in the last 3 minutes of the game. However, it was historic being the first ever women's national championship game ever played in an NFL stadium, Heinz Field - home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The game was also broadcast on ESPN3.
The Chicago Force, in its 11th season is one of 50 teams nationally in the Women's Football Alliance (WFA) and has only missed the playoffs in one season of its history. Learn more at www.ChicagoForceFootball.com and www.facebook.com/ChicagoForce
