Event Details

Jana Kinsman is a beekeeper in Chicago who cares for hives all over the city and advocates for pollinator health. In this session we'll go over the basics of honeybee life, and their role in our food world, and what it's like being a beekeeper. We'll also talk about native pollinators in the Chicago region and how you can help them. As a take-away, you'll get to build your own smal bee house to take home and put in your yard! (based on available scrapwood).

Our mission is to create a market for reclaimed building materials. We do this by diverting materials from landfills and making them accessible for reuse through our retail warehouse, by promoting sustainable deconstruction practices, by providing education and job training programs, and by creating innovative models for sustainable reuse.
