Please join us for the February meeting of the Charlotte area ACL User Group. We will have the results of the 2012 Year End ACL Survey and the following presentation by Tom Vallequette & James Kidwell of Carolinas Healthcare Systems.
System User Access Auditing & Monitoring: Integrating HR and Active Directory User Data to Evaluate Account Administration Control Effectiveness.System User Account administration controls are critical to ensuring users have proper access to key business systems. This interactive presentation will explore ACL scripting techniques used to conduct a series of automated testing routines used to identify terminated employees with active accounts in critical enterprise systems. In addition to exploring ACL script writing, participants will discuss risks and key audit questions that should be considered during the program planning and field testing stages of the audit. Finally, participants will discuss data acquisition strategies, data standardization, and ACL project scheduling.
Tom Valiquetteis the Program Manager for Compliance Data Analytics in the Compliance Division within Carolinas Healthcare System (CHS). He joined CHS in 2007 in their Audit Service’s department as a Senior Auditor. In October 2011, Tom joined a newly formed Technology Team within CHS’s Compliance Division that is responsible for developing data mining and continuous monitoring solutions for the departments within the CHS Compliance Division – including Audit Services, Facility Compliance and Physician Compliance. Tom’s current responsibilities include developing compliance-related analytic programs using data that covers all CHS’s 600+ care locations. He is also responsible for developing Continuous Monitoring and Auditing solutions for Operational and Financial areas, including: Payroll, Purchase-to-Pay, Employee Expense Reimbursement, and Accounts Receivable. Prior to joining CHS, he worked in healthcare and other not-for-profit organizations. His work included management and administration within a group purchasing organization, hospital, and youth services organizations. Tom holds a Masters in Business Administration and Masters of Social Work from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge Louisiana. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and holds the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
James Kidwell is a Senior Information Systems Auditor for Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS), and he is also the Programs Director for the Charlotte ISACA Chapter. He joined CHS Audit Services in February 2011 and is currently responsible for planning, performing, and coordinating audits of information technology internal controls and procedures, as well as HIPAA Security program reviews and IT audit consultations throughout the CHS organization. James has over 18 years of management and technical experience in information technology and IT audit in the education, telcom, and healthcare industries. James holds the Juris Doctor law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University (NKU), and a BA in Philosophy with a Business Administration Minor from NKU. He maintains the ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation, and he is a member of the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors (AHIA).

Please give your name to the guard at the gate and inform him you are attending the ACL User Group Mtg. and you will be directed to the 8500 bldg. Visitor Parking garage upon exiting the garage please report to the Security desk located in the lobby of the 8500 bldg. Upon visitor sign-in the guard will direct you to the meeting room location. Please note that walking distance from parking deck to the 8500 building and visitor sign-in can take up to 10-15 minutes.
