Event Details

Join MCI in welcoming teachers, staff, children and families on the first day of school, Monday, August 18th!

Let’s show the children, families, teachers and staff at Charles R. Drew K-8 Center and Brownsville Middle School that this academic year, they will be surrounded with a network of support, kindness and love.  With the goal of working collectively to improve student achievement and greater parent engagement.

What will happen on that day:
Community leaders, police officers, residents, and caring individuals will line the entrance of each school and greet everyone as they enter.  Signs of positive messages will be provided.  We want to create a positive start to the school year.   A kind bar, along with coffee and juice will be distributed.

A simple but loving idea to let children, families and teachers know that they are not alone – that this community cares and will do its part to support the school cohesively this year!

Organizer

Miami Children's Initiative

In partnership with Liberty City’s residents, youth, religious centers, schools, businesses and non-profit organizations, we seek to address the needs of our community by investing in our children. Miami Children’s Initiative and its partners are making bold moves to transform the lives of the children and families in our community by providing a unified system of support, education and care that begins before birth through college and career. MCI believes that Liberty City’s strength lies in the undeveloped potential of its youth and that through focused strategic work the potential of each child can be unleashed.
