Welcome to Charis Youth Ranch summer program 2016 Registration page!!
We have a variety of programs to choose from. As always our youth programs are open to the public and we do not charge since we are community funded! We are so blessed to serve kids who hear about us in the community as well as kids referred to us from local agencies and other non profits. Below we have detailed our 2016 available programs. While most of our programs are geared towards 5-12, we have some great options for your horse crazy teen as well.
Equine Adventure Program (EAP) (Ages 5-12) Sign your child up to for a 6 week Equine Adventure Class this summer!! Your child will learn about horses and adventure on 30 acres with our 18 rescued horses following our specially developed small group curriculum. Our classes include 6 sessions over 6 weeks at the ranch*. Each weekly session is 1 hour and 15 minutes long. We begin in the first session with basic horse safety and body language and build on our skills each week up to actually riding our horse in the final 2 sessions of the class. There are 120 individual spots available in 2016. We are offering 20 total classes to accomodate the high demand for our sessions as well as busy Summer schedules. Please, only sign your child up for 1 class, we have many children who want to experience the adventure of the ranch and want to include as many as possible :)
*The first semester will only run for 5 weeks due to our week long VBS June 20-24. Participants in the Equine Adventure Program are invited to attend the VBS!
VBS (ages 5-12) Come on down to the ranch and enjoy a rip roaring, boot stomping, good clean fun time !! June 20th-24, 9-12 kids will be transported to a little town with a big outlaw, and meet an even bigger hero! Each day they will enjoy a theme, craft, bible lesson, snack, and fun games. This event is open to the public and free of charge. Registration is now open on our VBS page click here to visit it :)
Junior Volunteer Program (ages 13-17) If your teen loves horses and would like a summer of horse wrangling and serving on the ranch we need you!! We schedule your teen for feeding shifts with an experienced adult volunteer (girls with girls, guys with guys) and for day shifts throughout the summer where they can help with our programs. Additionally every Wednesday afternoon we offer an open class for the jr volunteers to work on skills and work with their chosen horse. We can accept 10 additional Jr Volunteers this summer so get your application in first thing!! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for your application.
We are very dedicated to providing excellent programing and have a wonderful record of safety, as such Charis Youth Ranch retains the right to cancel any and all programming or sessions due to severe weather, illness of leaders, or any other serious safety concern. It is rare that we have to cancel but in Colorado the weather can be unpredictable. Your childs safety is our highest priority, followed closely by the safety of our volunteers and horses.
Lindsay Daley, Charis Youth Ranch Program Director

What does "Charis" mean? It is the greek word for Grace. It is the essence of what every visitor experiences on the ranch: Hope for the hopeless, Healing for the broken, and New Life springing forth.
OUR MISSION: To rescue, rehabilitate and sanctuary retired racehorses after the track by transitioning them from a life of racing into second careers or providing sanctuary for life. Additionally, we endeavor to connect youth from all walks of life with these rescued horses to share the experience of unconditional love and trust which facilitate healing for both equine and child.
A registered Colorado 501(c)(3) non profit in good standing; we are an organization with a heart to see the best in every horse and young person we work with. We rescue, rehabilitate, and sanctuary retired race horses as well as horses who simply need a second chance. Additionally we work with individuals and other organizations to connect kids from all walks of life with our horses.
