Mr. Speiss is a news reporter who became a lawyer. His practice focuses on global brand management. He is lead outside intellectual property counsel for several companies, principally handling trademark prosecution, branding, copyright, licensing, advertising matters, and related litigation. Mr. Speiss further quarterbacks his clients’ remaining intellectual property and business needs, internally managing those relationships. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Speiss was a reporter for the Los Angeles Times, where he principally covered events in the cities of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. He uses the skills that he developed as a reporter, during his MBA work at USC, and as a lawyer to provide advice and guidance to his clients. Mr. Speiss' clients include a host of energetic and successful businesses such as ‘SC startups (Arthur) Dogswell, which is a leading purveyor of holistic pet food and pet treats, New Deal Studios, which has worked on such Oscar-winning films as "Hugo" and "Inception," and Carver Skateboards. He also represents professional athletes and entrepreneurs Rob Dyrdek and Randy Couture in their myriad intellectual property-related endeavors. While Mr. Speiss seeks non-litigation resolutions for his clients, he has about 15 years of experience in litigating intellectual property disputes.
