ChangeCamp is an event being organized by the Ottawa community to bring together citizens, technologists, designers, academics, policy makers, political players, change-makers and government employees to discuss participatory governance at the municipal level in a web-enabled world.  The key theme of this event is:

How do we re-imagine government and citizenship in the age of participation?

ChangeCamp is a free participatory web-enabled face-to-face event, which addresses the demand for a renewed relationship among citizens and government.  The mission of ChangeCamp is to innovate how Canadian governments engage with citizens in an age of mass participation on the Internet.  The event aims to develop action plans, for initiatives to improve participation in municipal governance utilizing web-technologies.

ChangeCamp addresses the demand for a renewed relationship among citizens and government. We seek to create connections, knowledge, tools and policies that drive transparency, civic engagement and democratic empowerment.

ChangeCamp is a solutions playground open to anyone, where admission and ideas are free. Our mission is to innovate how Canadian governments engage with citizens in an age of mass participation on the internet. We hope to ignite a distributed and self-organizing movement in cities across the country. And this is already being realized in Ottawa, the nation's capital.

ChangeCamp Ottawa has a unique advantage. It is taking place in one of the most technologically connected and politically charged environments in the country. The National Capital Region has an area of 5,319 square kilometres and is home to:

  • over a million citizens from 40 city wards, two provinces and one country
  • a burgeoning tech sector of small, medium and large sized firms that employ more than 80,000 people
  • a diverse, vibrant and talented creative community
  • academic professionals from four universities and two community colleges
  • more policy wonks than anyone cares to count
  • political players from two city halls, two provincial parliaments and one federal parliament
  • change-makers from non-governmental organizations to lobbying efforts to activists
  • government employees from over 15 city advisory committees, 30 provincial ministries and over 100 federal departments, agencies and crown corporations

ChangeCamp Ottawa is looking for those interested in e-governance, communications and policy. Are you in?

You will automatically recieve an invitation to the Pathable social network for ChangeCamp upon registration, we invite you to take that opportunity to connect with the ChangeCamp community before the event.  To save you time, some information will be sent to Pathable in order to automatically create your account.
