This course is a two-day Certified Scrum Master Training with two trainers facilitating.
In our interactive and hands on Scrum Master Certification course, you will learn the Scrum framework, how to apply Scrum to your projects, and how to navigate the cultural changes necessary to implement Scrum. During the two day course, taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST™), you will earn 14 PDUs and become a Certified Scrum Master through the Scrum Alliance.
In this course, participants will learn how to start executing along with everything necessary for getting started with Scrum. There are very few rules to Scrum so it is important to learn its fundamental principles by experiencing them directly from those who have implemented the best Scrums in the software industry. Participants gain hands-on practice with the release backlog, sprint backlog, the daily Scrum meeting, tracking progress with a burndown charts, Scrum boards, and more. Participants experience the Scrum process through a series of hands on exercises, ranging from Visioning through to Sprint Planning.

Catherine Louis is a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST™) with over 20 years of hands-on complex product development experience (including both software and hardware) which allows her to go well beyond delivering a course of just Scrum in theory. Along with Catherine, Christine Hegarty of Scruminc.com will be co-faciliating. Christine has tons of hands-on experience as an enterprise-level, and team-level Agile coach, and brings to the training a wonderful hands-on "team-first" experience.
What you will learn in this course:
Through a combination of immersive team-based learning, exercises, and real-world case studies, you will learn:
- To plan, initiate and lead a Scrum project
- To establish a shared vision for the entire team
- To generate an Agile release plan utilizing user stories and story point estimation
- To enable your Scrum team to migrate successfully through planning, review, and retrospective sessions
- To create an environment in which self-managing teams can flourish with Scrum
- To identify and remove impediments
- To identify, engage and involve business stakeholders in your project
- How to take your existing team to the next level
- Practical suggestions, not just theory
- A Release planning guide to help teams migrate through Release Planning.
Course attendees are encouraged to have basic knowledge of the Scrum process obtained from books, journal articles, and online content. Prior experience with Scrum is a plus. The Scrum Guide is a required reading. The questions in the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) test are based on the learning objectives established for this course at http://www.scrumalliance.org/resources/2747. You can also access the content of the Agile Atlas at http://agileatlas.org/. The Agile Atlas is a resource for Scrum and other relevant information you need as a Scrum practitioner. All pre-requisite reading will be sent by Catherine Louis, your Certified Scrum Trainer (CST™) to attendees prior to the training.
After taking the 2-day Certified ScrumMaster course, students are eligible to take the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Assessment Exam through the Scrum Alliance. It has 35 questions and no time limit in which to complete. Candidates may bookmark questions, change answers to questions, and even stop the exam, returning to it to complete the questions at a later time within the 90-day period. Start-Stop times - The course will typically run from 8:30am-5:00pm each day. Please arrive at 8:30am for a continental breakfast, we will start promptly at 9:00am. Lunch will also be provided.
Preparation - Participants should read Ken Schwaber's book, Agile Project Management with Scrum, or Jeff Sutherland's The Scrum Handbook before the class as we will assume you know the basics of Scrum.
