This course is a two-day Certified Scrum Master Workshop limited to 18 attendees.

Our interactive Scrum Master Certification course will teach and provide significant practice in the skills necessary to successfully fill the role of ScrumMaster (or Scrum team member). During this class you will learn how to be an effective Scrum Master, improve teamwork and productivity, launch new products faster than previously thought possible, and ask and receive excellence to deliver products faster with higher quality. This class is highly interactive and includes a combination of theory and hands-on exercises. During the two day course, taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST™), you will earn 15 PDUs and become a Certified Scrum Master through the Scrum Alliance.
In this course, participants will learn how to start executing along with everything necessary for getting started with Scrum. Being Agile is more than just knowing how to build software iteratively. Success requires thinking in ways that are consistent with the Agile approach. Our Certified Scrum Master course is designed with the principles, practices, and techniques successful teams use to get the most out of their Agile methods. This course is more than instruction with valuable information; it also provides the opportunity to apply critical principles and put them into practice. Participants gain hands-on practice with the release backlog, sprint backlog, the daily Scrum meeting, tracking progress with a burndown charts, Scrum boards, and more, through a series of hands on exercises, ranging from Visioning through to Sprint Planning.

What you will learn in this course:
Through a combination of immersive team-based learning, exercises, and real-world case studies, you will learn:
- To plan, initiate and lead a Scrum project
- To establish a shared vision for the entire team
- To generate an Agile release plan utilizing user stories and story point estimation
- To enable your Scrum team to migrate successfully through planning, review, and retrospective sessions
- To create an environment in which self-managing teams can flourish with Scrum
- To identify and remove impediments
- To identify, engage and involve business stakeholders in your project
- How to take your existing team to the next level
- Practical suggestions, not just theory
- A Release planning guide to help teams migrate through Release Planning.
Course attendees are encouraged to have basic knowledge of the Scrum process obtained from books, journal articles, and online content. The Scrum Guide is recommended pre-reading. The questions in the Certified Scrum Master (CSM) test are based on the learning objectives established for this course at http://www.scrumalliance.org/resources/2747. You can also access the content of the Agile Atlas at http://agileatlas.org/. The Agile Atlas is a resource for Scrum and other relevant information you need as a Scrum practitioner. All pre-requisite reading will be sent by Catherine Louis, your Certified Scrum Trainer (CST™) to attendees prior to the training.
Upon completion of the course, students will be Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Masters after passing a short exam. The exam has 35 questions and no time limit in which to complete. Candidates may bookmark questions, change answers to questions, and even stop the exam, returning to it to complete the questions at a later time within the 90-day period. You will also receive a one-year membership in the Scrum Alliance, and can apply for 15 PMP PDUs with the Project Management Institute, satisfying 15 of the required 21 training hours for the new PMI-ACP (PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner).
Start-Stop times - The course will typically run from 8:30am-5:00pm each day. Please arrive at 8:30am for a continental breakfast, we will start promptly at 9:00am. Lunch will also be provided.
Preparation - Participants should read Ken Schwaber's book, Agile Project Management with Scrum, or Jeff Sutherland's The Scrum Handbook before the class as we will assume you know the basics of Scrum.
