The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trainS them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
In order to be certified, respondents must attend BOTH April 12th and April 19th workshops from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Participants will be given breaks and will be free to leave for lunch. Attendees should wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. This event is free and open to the public.
The training will be held in Room B125 of the General Education Building on UTHSCs campus. The address is below:
8 South Dunlap
Memphis, TN 38163
Attendees who are not members of the UTHSC campus can park in the H garage, next to the Hamilton Eye Institute on Madison Avenue or find street parking on Dunlap. Members of the UTHSC community with current parking passes can park in the garage next to GEB free of charge on Saturdays.
