David Weiss is a seasoned executive with over 25 years in the software business. From 2002 until 2011, Mr. Weiss served as President and CEO of Numara Software, Inc, (formerly Blue Ocean Software) where he led the company to significant growth through product and market expansion. Numara Software develops and markets products to help businesses manage their information technology resources and assets. Its flagship products provide computer asset management and helpdesk functionality for small businesses and mid-sized enterprises. Mr. Weiss sold the company three times – first to Intuit in 2002, then to private equity in late 2005 and finally to BMC in 2012.
Prior to Numara, Mr. Weiss served as vice president of worldwide marketing for Citrix Systems, Inc. during its rapid expansion from a small, private company to a global leader in remote access software solutions. Mr. Weiss was also part of the founding team of a VC-funded software company in the late 90s.
A graduate of Duke University, Mr. Weiss holds bachelors’ degrees in computer science and economics.

Since our inception in 2003, the Tampa Bay Innovation Center has worked with hundreds of technology clients and graduated several companies from its programs. Collectively, the Innovation Center's in-house clients employ 100 workers with an average wage of over $60,000. These clients have launched over 70 new products, raised millions in seed capital and grants, and hold more than 100 patents with numerous more pending.
The Innovation Center is managed by STAR-TEC Enterprises, Inc., a not-for-profit Florida corporation whose goal is to foster jobs and promote economic development through assistance and support programs. The Innovation Center's Steering Committee, Advisory Board, and working Committees include individuals from major research universities, funding and venture capital organizations, industry associations, defense program offices, law offices, accounting firms, and community support organizations.
