Event Details

Join us for an edible afternoon of swapping homemade treats in the heart of Orange County!

Members and non-members of Slow Food welcome to join us.

A Food Swap is part silent auction/part village marketplace/part fun-loving open house where your homemade creations (breads, preserves, special concoctions, canned goods, etc.) become your own personal currency for use in swapping with other participants. What better way to diversify your pantry and network with like-minded friends and neighbors?

Details:

We welcome everyone, as long as you bring something you made, grew, or foraged yourself. We will also consider other homemade non-comestibles (soaps, beauty products, etc) on a case-by-case basis.

Bring an assortment of your homemade edible specialties (think pickles, preserves, baked goods, honey, granola, pasta, fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices… you name it!) to exchange for other handcrafted delights.

You may download your swap cards here and fill them out in advance, or you may pick some up from the Central OC Food Swap upon arrival.

Please download print, sign and date the following release form and bring to the event with you. The release is required to participate.

We will also provide name tags, tables, and organization for the event. You will be given the opportunity to offer trades in a silent-auction type format, and you will be free to choose which trades to accept for your products. Bring as much or as little as you like; there are no caps or minimums. However, we suggest bringing a minimum of 5-10 items. You could bring several of the same item, or an assortment! If possible, please bring samples for others to try!

Swap participants will be given free entry. After the swap has ended, please consider donating items you have not swapped to Orange County Food Access Coalition for the benefit of the underserved in Orange County.

You must pre-register to attend. Also, remember that there is a limited number of tickets, so if for some reason you cannot make it, let us know and we can adjust the guest list accordingly. If you plan to bring a family member or friend who will be participating, we ask that they register separately. Non-swapping guests are welcome to come and observe, but please be considerate of our space limitations. Due to limited space, we are capping the number of swappers at 22 and will keep a waiting list after that, so register early.

Disclaimer:

Please be aware that all goods are made in home kitchens by private individuals, not professionals. We expect all swappers to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety in the preparation of their items. Nevertheless, by participating in the swap you acknowledge that the items available are not made in licensed kitchens or inspected by any government agency. The Central Orange County Food Swap does not provide any guarantees or assurances about the safety of the swap items.
