Event Details

The protectors of tradition are pitted against the emissaries of change in the 1973 film “The Conflict,” the next film in the Williamsburg Regional Library’s Celtic Film Series on Wednesday, June 3 at 7 p.m. It will be shown free of charge in the Williamsburg Library Theatre, 515 Scotland Street.  For more information, visit www.wrl.org or call (757) 259-4070.

A priest, played by Martin Sheen, is empowered by the Vatican to help administer reforms within the Roman Catholic Church. He is dispatched by the Pope to a secluded monastery in Ireland where he meets an Abbot (Trevor Howard) who does not share his views.

Williamsburg Regional Library presents the Celtic Film Series in cooperation with the local chapters of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and the St. Andrew Society.  The series explores the history, drama and quirky humor of films made in or about Scotland and Ireland.
