Chuck Lewis Passion Award
Forward/Adelante, in partnership with the City of Charlottesville, will present the Chuck Lewis Passion Award to Daisy & Geiner Rojas of Rojas Stevens Painting
in honor of their entrepreneurial accomplishments.
Still a young company, Rojas Stevens Painting
has grown to include major projects in West Virginia, Hot Springs, White Sulfur Springs, Warm Springs and at the Greenbrier Club--a world famous Professional Golf and Spa club.
F/A, the City of Charlottesville, and our supporting Sponsors celebrate Daisy & Geiner's perseverance, passion, and commitment to a local business founded on a sound work ethic, customer service, and strong family values.
perceived adversity as a challenge to find solutions and always treated people and their ideas with dignity and respect. The award is bestowed in his honor to pass on his legacy.
Toan Nguyen will present the keynote address on ”Passion and Determination from Within.” Mr. Nguyen is co-founder and CEO of C’ville Central
, a Benefit Corporation that unites small contractors to bid on large residential and institutional contracts. He is also co-founder of the Community Investment Collaborative, owner of C’ville Coffee, and a Darden School of Business graduate.
C’ville Central Director of Communications Caroline Harris will make a special presentation about this new company’s role in harnessing the Charlottesville region’s economic power and channeling it to small, women, and minority-owned (SWaM) businesses.
Singer Stephanie Nakasian
, Renaissance woman of jazz, captures the heart of audiences with her extensive repertoire reaching from Jazz to Broadway. Stephanie will be joined by her partner, internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Hod O'Brien, and singer Veronica "Swift" O'Brien, a jazz and contemporary voice student at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. The "Family O'Brien" has recently appeared at the Kitano Jazz Club in New York and Jazziz Nightlife Club in Boca Raton.
Stephanie is a prolific recording artist with 11 celebrated albums, including her recent “Billie Remembered” which was featured on NPR’s “Fresh Air” with Terry Gross. Her new release "Show Me The Way" begins with optimistic love, winds through heartbreak and dissolution, and returns to hope in a carefully selected span of songs paralleling the global malaise that has begun to stimulate innovative changes throughout the world in promise of a brighter future.
Cuisine by Café Cubano and A Taste of Home
Charlottesville's beloved downtown coffee shop and eatery Café Cubano
will provide the evening's refreshments. An array of Cuban appetizers will include authentic Sandwich Cubano, Caribbean Guacamole, Pressed Chicken with Pan, Salad Roll-ups and Sweet Treats. Complimentary Wine, Beer, Tea & Café.
Plus, guests will enjoy Southern cuisine by A Taste of Home, a food truck and local catering service specializing in meal options for remote business locations. Their plan is to partner with local businesses and institutions, in slightly remote locations, to provide their internal and external customers a tasty, home-cooked alternative to the bag lunch.
