A Decade Of Soul: Classic Soul & Motown Revue w/Prentiss McNeil Of The Drifters & "Big Daddy" Wayne - 9:30PM SHOW
- BB King Blues Club, New York NY
Streams of Whiskey is a Pogues, Shane MacGowan, and The Popes tribute band. If you want to hear "Fields of Athenry" and "I'll Tell Me Ma," then don't bother coming to see this band. They play Pogues, Pogues, and only Pogues!
Streams of Whiskey was born out of desperation. Barnacle Bill was idiotically hired for an Irish gig at Egan and Sons on St. Paddy's Day in 2007. Once Steve (drums), Stuart (guitar), and Yianni (bass) realized they didn't actually know any Irish songs, the race began and the recruiting was on. Luckily, Steve's girlfriend Karen (tin whistle) is psychotically obsessed with Shane MacGowan and The Pogues, and Steve (a distant third) offered to be the musical director while basically picking her favorite songs. A month later they managed to bump Steve from drums to vocals and Karen from musical director to tin whistle. A few months and a gig later, the group's favorite bartender Paulie Walnuts entered the fray on drums. (Walnuts has since blown himself up whilst lighting a cig after too much Jameson!) Stepping into his shoes is Tim Alworth. Rounding out the group was Jeff "Polly" Young on fiddle.
Together, these seven musicians recreate the magic, mayhem, drunkenness, and fun that was and is The Pogues. All in all, the band is pretty much a load of misfits that somehow found each other under the umbrella of the Pogues. These musicians love what they do, and it shows!
Conveniently located in the heart of Times Square near Penn Station and Port Authority, B.B. King Blues Club & Grill offers music fans a unique experience. Owned by the Bensusan Family, proprietors of the world renowned Blue Note Jazz Club, the club features world-class musical talent and consists of two distinct spaces: the Showcase Room & Lucille’s Grill.
The breathtaking main space is classical in form and spirit: two-tiered, horseshoe-shaped seating (booths & tables) centered around a 30-foot stage presents up close and personal views of all performances. The 40-foot bar is a haven for the reserved listener. The atmosphere is enhanced with two 8-foot big video screens on either side of the stage.
