About the Houston International Festival
This annual downtown event celebrates music, dance and cultures from around the world with this year the festival will shine a spotlight on Australia. Early festivals featured almost exclusively local acts; as the festival has grown, it has become a showcase for more international and nationally known artists.
The festival features more than 40 restaurants selling delicious local and international foods. IFest also presents six to eight arts markets, with more than 400 artists including a juried art market. The footprint is divided into zones, each one focusing on a specific culture through food, exhibits and entertainment. The Chevron Living Museum will showcase the spotlighted culture of Australia with iconic structures, interactive exhibits, artisan demonstrations and performances. The festival benefits Houston's tourism and economy by drawing 22% tourist attendance and generates local and state tourist-based taxes.
The Houston International Festival is produced by the Houston Festival Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) organization. Festival proceeds benefit the foundation year-round arts and education programs reaching up to 900,000 students in the Greater Houston area and beyond.
