The Third weekend in October is special in many faithful Tennessee Volunteers' hearts. Tennessee's all-time leading receiver, Joey Kent was instrumental in helping establish the nickname 'Wide Receiver U' for the Vols. Joseph " Joey" Kent was born in Huntsville, AL, graduated from J.O. Johnson High School in 1992. He attended the University of Tennessee from 1992-1997, and became the All-Time leading receiving leader in school history with totals of 183 catches, 2814 yards and 25 touchdowns earning 1st team All-SEC honors in 1996. He also had 15 100-yard receiving games, four more than any other Vols, including a record seven-straight during the 1996 campaign. Kent is one of just five Vols to lead the team in receiving yards for three straight seasons. He graduated with a degree in Education Business Marketing in 1997, and was drafted in 2nd round of the 1997 by the Tennessee Oilers playing a total of 4 years with the Tennessee Oilers/ Titans and Minnesota Vikings. Now employed by Takeda Pharmaceuticals as a Sales Representative, and also serves as an analyst for the Tennessee Tailgate Show on 104.5 the Zone. Kent resides in Brentwood, TN with wife and two children.
