Come join us for a delicious lunch and obtain 1 clock hour of continuing education. This advanced lecture is intended for clinicians specializing in the treatment of eating disorders and addictions.
Recent research suggests that clients with eating disorders often have co-occurring difficulties related to intimate relationships and sexuality. These deficits are often unaddressed in the treatment process. Nancy Albus, will discuss recent research involving clients with eating disorders and issues related to intimacy, relationships and sexuality. She will also explore suggested interventions aimed at helping clients develop healthy intimate relationships and healthy sexuality.
Helping clients with Eating Disorder Develop Healthy Intimacy, Relationships and Sexuality.
1. Participants will be able to define healthy intimacy, healthy relationships and healthy sexuality
2. Participants will be able to assess for issues related to intimacy and sexuality which may result in relapse into eating disorder symptoms.
3. Participants will be able to implement at least 3 interventions to assist clients with eating disorders in the development of healthy intimacy, relationships and sexuality.
1 clock hours or (0.1 CEU's) are available through the National Board of Certified Counselors, the American Psychological Association, The California Board of Behavioral Sciences and the National Association of Social Workers.
Castlewood Treatment Center is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Castlewood Treatment Center maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
Castlewood Treatment Center is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEPTM) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is
responsible for all aspects of the program.
This course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing education credit for MFT’s, LPCC’s, and/or LCSW’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, per approval number PCE 5221.
Nancy Albus is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with extensive training and more than a decade of experience in eating disorders, intimacy, relationships, family therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy. A member of the Castlewood Treatment Center team since 2002, Nancy has held several positions within the company including primary therapist, program director and executive director. She was named CEO in December, 2012. As CEO, Albus is responsible for leading the nationally accredited treatment facility and its qualified, experienced treatment team. Albus will continue to leverage Castlewood’s esteemed reputation for helping people suffering from eating disorders transform to healthier lives. Under her direction, the center has expanded to include new treatment facilities in Monterey, California (Monarch Cove Treatment Center) and Birmingham Alabama (Highlands Treatment Center). In addition to her work with eating disorders, Nancy focuses on gender and sexuality issues and facilitates family week programming at Castlewood. She is a member of the Academy of Eating Disorders, the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and the National Eating Disorder Association. Albus received her graduate degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, completed business courses at Washington University and earned her undergraduate degree at Texas Christian University. Albus currently resides in Kirkwood with her husband and two daughters. She is very active in the community and has devoted time to DePaul Hospital Auxiliary, Rossman School Parents Club and Board, and the John Burroughs Parent Council. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and is an accomplished golfer.
