Who is Eligibile for CARE* Level 3? (* CARE=Canine Adoption Readiness & Enrichment)
- AAF volunteers who have completed Level 2-CARE program (Dogs) and who want to be able to come to AAF to walk dogs and/or take dogs outside for exercise (on their own schedule and/or outside times of the Walk-A-Hound program), and;
- Volunteers who want to provide at least 10 hours of service after they complete Level 3;
What Is Included in the CARE Level 3 Training Class?
In this 3- hour session volunteers will: develop leash skills for walking dogs, review various leash and harnesses, discuss and observe canine play behavior and body language, learn about and work with AAF dogs in the dog agility play yards, and refine skills from Level 2.
What Should I Wear? Do I Need to Bring Anything?
Because this program takes place mostly outdoors, participants should dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. We work through the lunch hour so as to finish before AAF opens for Adoption Hours (at 1 pm). Bring your own snacks, sandwiches as you see fit.
How Do I Register for the CARE Level 3 Class?
Class size is limited to 8 participants to allow for the most individualized instruction and to maximize safety. Here's how to register...
Register through EventBrite: You should register at least 48 hours in advance of the date you want to attend. Go to: http://carelevel3ataaf.eventbrite.com to register. Pick the date you'd like to attend using the drop-down menu. Then click on the REGISTER button and you'll be asked a few questions as part of registration.
If the class is full when you go to register, that particular date on the registration page will no longer show up. If the class is full when you try to register, please consider signing up for the class at one of the other listed times.
Note: There must be at least 2 volunteers registered for the class or the class will be cancelled. In the event the class is cancelled due to low enrollment, individuals will be notified.
What If I Need to Cancel?
Once registered, if you find you find you will not be able to attend the class, please cancel your registration so your spot in the class can be made available to another AAF volunteer. Cancel your reservation by sending an email to: email@example.com. Thank you for your consideration of other volunteers on this matter.
Note: If AAF needs to cancel the class (due to severe weather, low enrollment, etc.), we will make every attempt possible to contact those who have registered.
What If I Have Questions or Comments?
If you have trouble registering or have additional questions, questions or feedback, send a message to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for your interest in helping shelter dogs!
