The Scholarship Fund

The goal of our scholarship fund is to help eliminate one of the leading obstacles preventing single parents and minority students from attending college – the soaring cost of tuition. We believe that when all students have the opportunity to attend college, our society thrives. If we provide these talented students with the means to higher education, we may be developing the future leaders of the Bay Area – and of the world.

On average, tuition for higher education increases annually by 8% – thereby effectively doubling the cost of tuition every nine years ( 2012).  As the price of college soars, more students are left without the means to attend. To help alleviate this financial burden on students, we fund two distinctive scholarships:

The Single Parent Scholarship – $1,000 per recipient
Low-income single parents who are California residents and who will be enrolled at 2- or 4-year California institution in the fall are eligible to apply.

The George Geng On Lee Minorities in Leadership Scholarship – $1,000 per recipient
Low-income minority students who are California residents and who will be enrolled full-time at 4-year California institutions in the fall are eligible to apply.
