5:00 - 7:30 PM: Saving and Raising Capital
Capital Saving and Raising at the Brink is not your typical dry lecture on financing your startup. Using in-person and online group participation, we’re first going to identify cool techniques, tools, and services that local companies are using to stretch that almighty dollar. For starters, ideas may include good free or low-cost services/tools and ideas on pooling or sharing resources and people/expertise. We'll also talk about low-cost ideas that ended up being very expensive. Prizes will be awarded to those who come up with the best ideas, as voted by the group.
We’re also going to talk about best practices and horror stories from one or more of the following areas that the group selects: friends and family financings, founder funding, government/nonprofit loans, grants and tax programs, angel financings, and startup incubators. Participating in the sessions we’ll have experienced company founders, angel investors, attorneys, and government reps.
7:30 - 8:00 PM (or later): Happy Hour and Open Pitch Mic
As much as we’d love to hear your rendition of “Lose Yourself,” this is not a karaoke event. Following the interactive capital raising and saving session, there will be a happy hour where you can make great connections in conjunction with an open mic session where you will have an opportunity to crowdsource an issue or pitch your ideas or requests. Each person or group interested in speaking will be afforded two minutes each. Here are some initial ideas as to what that could entail:
- Explain what you do or what your company does
- Make people requests (e.g., we're looking for a game designer to join our team)
- Identify like-minded people who might want to form a startup
- Describe the types of opportunities that you're looking for
- Promote an event that might be of interest to startups
- Request feedback on business models, products, or branding ideas
ADVANCED REGISTRATION BY AUGUST 20 IS FREE!
TICKETS AT THE DOOR ON AUGUST 22 WILL BE $5.00 (cash only)
