ABOUT THE CABARET Hosted by the Camden Opera House, patrons will enter the world of the German Cabaret and travel with CSF through the sounds of 1920’s Weimar, the Parisian society of the 1930’s, and the musicals and film spectaculars of the 1940’s all through Weill’s iconic songs. The cabaret follows the engrossing relationship between the composer KURT WEILL and his wife and muse LOTTE LENYA- one of the greatest artistic pairings in modern history. Weill’s great songbook includes the familiar songs Mack the Knife, September Song, Moon of Alabama, It Never Was You as well as forgotten gems Berlin in Lights, Youkali -Tango Habanera, Nana’s Lied, Buddy on the Night Shift. All Proceeds from the cabaret concert will benefit the inaugural 2013 Season of the Camden Stage Festival: a new, groundbreaking professional Summer festival of theater+opera productions in multiple venues throughout Camden, Maine in August and September 2013.
Featuring two award-winning talents: Scarborough native and lauded Broadway singer+pianist EDWIN CAHILL and critically acclaimed opera and cabaret artist PEABODY SOUTHWELL.
