We're pleased to welcome Presidential Innovation Fellow Clay Johnson, co-founder of Blue State Digital, which managed President Barack Obama's online campaign for the presidency in 2008. As director of Sunlight Labs at the Sunlight Foundation, Mr. Johnson built an team of 2000 developers and designers to create open source tools that give people greater access to government data. In 2009, Mr. Johnson was awarded the Google/O'Reilly Open Source Organizer of the Year, and in 2010, he was recognized as one of Federal Computing Week's Fed 100.
In his provocative new book, The Information Diet, Mr. Johnson likens the modern epidemic of information overload to ever-increasing obesity rates. “As we industrialized our food companies, we've industrialized our media companies,” he said in a recent webinar. As a solution, Mr. Johnson advocates wellness based on conscious consumption of high quality information.
